Editing approach — Typeless: polish while you speak
Typeless says it turns your words into "polished messages, emails, and documents" in real time. It removes filler words and repetition, keeps only your final wording when you correct yourself, formats lists, and changes tone based on the app you're using. You can also select text and speak a command to make it shorter or longer, change its tone, or ask about it. If you want dictation that comes out ready to send, Typeless is designed for that.
Editing approach — SayDart: preview, clean up, keep versions
SayDart works differently:
- See the original transcript while you record.
- "Um", "uh" and restarts just disappear, automatically.
- Keep History with result versions and switch between them.
- Use voice translation, with optional AI cleanup of translated text.
- Open the AI assistant for questions about selected text.
Want to see every word as you say it? Turn on Live transcription display and it shows above the capsule while you talk.

If you need to dictate on your phone, Typeless has mobile apps and SayDart doesn't. On Windows, Mac and Linux, both work.
Typeless on Windows
Typeless has a Windows desktop app. Its download page offers "Download for Windows" next to macOS and Linux, its pricing comparison lists Desktop (Windows) under Device & platform, and its help center keeps separate Windows app release notes. The pages we checked do not list a minimum Windows version.
On Windows, the comparison comes down to workflow. Typeless polishes your words as you speak. SayDart shows the original transcript above the capsule while you record (turn on Live transcription display), uses Right Alt as the default shortcut (change it on the Home screen), and keeps result versions in History.

Languages and translation
- SayDart: multilingual dictation with built-in voice translation. Choose a target language, optionally enable AI cleanup of translated text, set a translation shortcut, and translate saved transcripts from History.
- Typeless: 100+ languages with automatic detection and support for mixing languages. Typeless says it translates as you speak into your chosen language.
Speak Chinese, get English. SayDart has its own translation hotkey, 30 languages in and 303 out, and you can re-translate anything in History.
For developers: dictating prompts to Cursor, Claude Code and Codex
Typeless lists desktop apps for macOS, Windows and Linux and describes a different tone for each app. Its pricing page does not describe coding-specific features such as file tagging; check typeless.com if you need them.
SayDart is not a plugin for Cursor, Claude Code or Codex, and it does not tag files, read your repository or run commands. Press your Voice input shortcut (Right Alt on Windows, Right Option on macOS, Left Ctrl + Left Alt + Space on Linux), say the goal, the context, what must not change and how to check the result, then paste or insert the text into the input box and send it yourself. Turn on Settings > Voice & translation > Live transcription display to see the transcript above the capsule while you talk. Run Create an AI prompt in Transforms to tighten a rambling request, add repository and library names to Dictionary, and keep standing instructions as Snippets. For Claude Code or Codex in a terminal, dictate into a notes field or chat box, review, then paste into the prompt.
