Platforms and where you write
Wispr Flow runs on Mac, Windows, iPhone, and Android and syncs across them. That helps if you dictate on your phone between meetings and finish on your laptop.
SayDart runs on Windows, Mac and Linux. Wispr Flow doesn't support Linux. Superwhisper's Linux build is distributed on GitHub as Omarchy packages (its website still lists Linux as coming soon). SayDart ships a .deb and an AppImage for mainstream distributions like Ubuntu and Debian. If you need the same tool on your phone, Wispr Flow fits.
Both put text where your cursor is: Slack, email, docs, and AI chat boxes. You don't need a separate editor.
Dictation features — Cleanup, dictionary, and styles
- Wispr Flow removes filler words, adds punctuation, and formats your text. You can set how much Auto Cleanup edits, choose a different style for each app, and use a dictionary plus snippets.
- With SayDart, your words show up live while you talk. "Um", "uh" and restarts just disappear. Add a term to Dictionary once and it's in your dictionary on every computer you sign in to, so SayDart writes it your way; say a shortcut phrase and a saved Snippet drops in. Select an error, press Right Alt + Space on Windows, Right Option + Space on Mac or Left Ctrl + Left Alt + A on Linux, and ask the Assistant.
Dictation features — Voice translation
- SayDart has built-in voice translation. Choose a target language, optionally enable AI cleanup of translated text, and assign a translation shortcut. You can also translate saved transcripts in History.
- Wispr Flow supports 100+ languages and detects the language you speak. Cleanup keeps your language mix. To translate, use Command Mode ("Translate this into…") or a Transform on selected text.
Dictation features — Editing by voice and History
- Wispr Flow has Command Mode on Mac and Windows. It's an experimental feature: select text and speak an instruction to edit it, draft a reply, or search.
- SayDart keeps History with multiple result versions. Reopen the original text, translate it, and switch between versions. Playback depends on whether the audio was saved.
For developers: dictating prompts to Cursor, Claude Code and Codex
Wispr Flow's help center says it recognizes variable names visible in Cursor, Windsurf and standard VS Code, and turns spoken file names into @-tags in Cursor and Windsurf AI chat panels, on Mac and Windows. Wispr Flow fits if you want to tag files by voice.
SayDart is not a plugin for Cursor, Claude Code or Codex, and it does not tag files, read your repository or run commands. Press your Voice input shortcut (Right Alt on Windows, Right Option on macOS, Left Ctrl + Left Alt + Space on Linux), say the goal, the context, what must not change and how to check the result, then paste or insert the text into the input box and send it yourself. Turn on Settings > Voice & translation > Live transcription display to see the transcript above the capsule while you talk. Run Create an AI prompt in Transforms to tighten a rambling request, add repository and library names to Dictionary, and keep standing instructions as Snippets. For Claude Code or Codex in a terminal, dictate into a notes field or chat box, review, then paste into the prompt.
SayDart gives you one hotkey for Cursor, Claude Code, Codex, GitHub and Slack. Describe the bug, the files, and what not to touch. Create an AI prompt tidies it into a structured prompt.
Meetings and Notetaker
If you need meeting notes, Wispr Flow has them and SayDart doesn't.
Wispr Notetaker records meetings on your Mac or Windows computer, with no bot joining the call. It works with Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, Slack huddles, and in-person conversations. You get a transcript with speakers named, a summary organized by topic, and next steps. Free accounts have a weekly meeting limit.
SayDart has no meeting Notetaker. If you need to capture calls, use Wispr or a dedicated meeting tool. If you want to turn your own spoken thoughts into clean text in the apps you already use, SayDart fits, including dictating a summary into Notion after a call.
